This past fall, the Southeast Ohio Quiz League contended its 2013 season. Held at Bishop Rosecrans High School in Zanesville, twelve teams of eleven schools participated in this year's edition. This is a league that formerly used to have high-quality, pyramidal questions last year in 2012, but since then they switched back to non-pyramidal questions for 2013. I'm not sure who is the question supplier, but it is probably Questions Unlimited.
Teams were divided into two preliminary brackets of six teams, to be played over the course of five weeks. I believe the bracket Fisher was in had Crooksville, Maysville, Sheridan, Rosecrans A, and Philo. The other bracket would then have had Newark Catholic, Coshocton, Tri-Valley, Zanesville, Rosecrans B, and River View. Bracket #1 was won by Sheridan, while bracket #2 was won by Newark Catholic. Fisher Catholic A did not play in the preliminary portion.
When the tournament happened, there was snow and ice from the previous night, and the two Perry County schools (Crooksville and Sheridan) were not in session that day, ergo they could not come to the tournament. Call it what you will, Sheridan was pretty good on these questions, so Fisher cruised easily through the brackets to win the tournament.
League standings in general: the top schools for the tournament were Fisher Catholic, Philo, Newark Catholic and Sheridan.
