AQUILA I @ Olentangy Hyatts MS [SCOP MS 5] 3.7.15
Posted: Wed Dec 10, 2014 5:42 pmYou are cordially invited to the 1st annual AQUILA (Academic QUIzbowl Legendary Awesomeness) Tournament [SCOP MS 5] @ Olentangy Hyatts MS in Powell, Ohio on Saturday March 7th, 2015.
The initial field cap will be 12 Middle School teams, but I will try to open that up if there is interest and I can secure enough competent readers. Please bring a moderator if possible.
Teams will be broken into 2 preliminary brackets of 6 teams each and will play round robin. At the conclusion of morning play, teams will be re-bracketed into 4 brackets of 3 to play another round robin with similar teams, with the top 2 teams at the conclusion of afternoon play for the tournament championship if needed. Every team will be guaranteed 7 rounds.
Each round will consist of 20 tossup questions with 20 3-part bonuses should a team answer a tossup correctly. Tossups will be worth 10 points, with 5-point negs for incorrect interrupts. There will be no powers at this tournament.
FEES:
First Team: $60
Each Additional Team: $50
BUZZER DISCOUNT: -$5 per buzzer system, limit one per team that you are bringing.
MODERATOR DISCOUNT: -$10 for a competent moderator. Please let me know in advance if you are planning to claim this discount.
TRAVEL DISCOUNT: There is a $10 discount for traveling over 200 miles.
If your team has not played an independent pyramidal tournament between September 1, 2011 and September 1, 2014, you automatically qualify for the minimum entry fee of $40.
