Congrats to Northmont for beating a very strong field. A much deserved victory.

I was mildly surprised to see Sidney miss the playoffs, but Copley is excellent when everyone is clicking.

All in all, it seems to be a fitting end to a competitive season.

Good luck to everyone at the upcoming assorted national tournaments.

There were still a few clunkers, but aside from a few Am Lit category rounds going author A/work of author A/author B, and the history rounds being lame (a lot of military history). The Econ/Gov't had some lame stuff and imbalance (nuclear option/baby boomer/tossup strikes me) the set wasn't insufferable.

Alphabet round literature questions were disgusting. One round (I think it was round 4) had quizbowl's seventh favorite Cuban author (Reinaldo Arenas) as well as some other stupid questions, which wouldn't be as terrible if it wasn't for the fact one of the final alphabet rounds (Letter E... , I'm pretty sure it was in the finals of Fisher v Northmont) resorted to "first name of the author who wrote 'I heard a fly buzz when I died'" while another later alphabet round was M and had a question to the effect of "first name of poet who wrote 'Dover Beach' ".
