SHATEYAHRONYA I/ AQUILA II @ LHS (GSAC) 1.9.16 OQBA

You are cordially invited to the 1st annual SHATEYARONYA Tournament (GSAC) @ Liberty HS in Powell, Ohio on Saturday January 9th, 2016. The initial field cap will be 24 teams, but I will try to open that up if there is interest and I can secure enough competent readers. PACE (the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence) has awarded the tournament, SHATEYAHRONYA, gold certification. This means that the top 20% of teams in the tournament (rounded up to the nearest integer) will qualify for our national high school quizbowl championship, the PACE NSC on the weekend of June 4th-5th at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare outside of Chicago.
Teams will be broken into 4 preliminary brackets of 6 teams each and will play round robin. At the conclusion of morning play, teams will be re-bracketed into 6 brackets of 4 to play another round robin with similar teams, with the top 2 teams at the conclusion of afternoon play for the tournament championship if needed. Every team will be guaranteed 10 rounds. PACE scoring: 10 point tossups, 20 point powers, bonus bouncebacks, no negs
We will also be running a MS tournament called AQUILA II at the same time and we will use the SCOP MS-6 set. Every team will be guaranteed 10 rounds.
Registration opens at 8:00 A.M. until 8:30 A.M. followed by a brief meeting for coaches and player. We expect to begin play promptly at 9:00A.M.
FEES:
First Team: $60
Each Additional Team: $50
BUZZER DISCOUNT: -$5 per buzzer system, limit one per team that you are bringing.
MODERATOR DISCOUNT: -$10 for a competent moderator. Please let me know in advance if you are planning to claim this discount.
TRAVEL DISCOUNT: There is a $10 discount for traveling over 200 miles one way.
If your team has not played an independent pyramidal tournament between September 1, 2012 and September 1, 2015, you automatically qualify for the minimum entry fee of $40.
