Posted: Mon Sep 24, 2018 9:17 am
Monroe County Middle College would like to formally invite you and your team our first ever quiz bowl tournament: The MCMC 10-Year Jubilee.
Our tournament will be held on Saturday, October 13th at the Monroe County ISD, located at 1101 S. Raisinville Rd. Monroe,MI 48161. We will be using the NAQT set IS-176A and have a hard cap of 16 teams due to space restrictions. The purpose of this tournament is to introduce more teams in southeast Michigan/northeast Ohio to pyramidal quiz bowl. There will be no "novice" restriction, so we will rely on teams to consider the skill level of their players and understand that there may be many new teams.
Teams in the top 15% will qualify for the NAQT HSNCT. Small schools (as defined by NAQT) in the top 30% will qualify for the NAQT SSNCT. PACE qualifications will be requested once more information about the field size is known.
Full cost: $80
Additional teams: $75
Functioning buzzer: $-5 (capped at the first 4)
Experienced moderator(s): $-10
*Distance: $-10
**New to quiz bowl: $-15
Minimum cost: $-50
*100 miles one-way
**Has not played a pyramidal quiz bowl tournament in the last two years
All checks can be addressed to Monroe County Middle College.
There will be no limit on the number of teams a school can register. A team will consist of no less than one (1) player. Only four players may be in play at one time, but substitutions are not required at any point.
