NAQT High School State Championship (IS-201)

I am working with Josh Eck from Copley, Tyler Benedict from MVS and Tommy Segi, the Director of the OAC to help coordinate the NAQT HS state championship event for this year. The tournament will be held remotely this year using Google Meet. The event will be held on Saturday, May 8th, using IS-201, which thanks to a set switch by Peter from Solon has not been used anywhere in Ohio this year.

Registration will be handled through NAQT's website. You can visit the schedule page (https://www.naqt.com/schedule/), scroll down to May 8th, and register there. The cost to participate is $50 per team, with significant discounts for providing staff. This is not a money maker for Northmont or any of those of us involved, we are just trying to make sure that these events happen this year despite the difficult circumstances we have all been dealing with.

Requirements for participation are that all students have access to a camera that must be on during the entirety of the tournament. Players will be required to keep their hands visible at all times during the event to ensure that everything is being done ethically. Teams are free to play at home or together in one room if your school is allowing that, but normal NAQT rules about conferral during questions will be in place. Please make sure that teams have cameras that are functional- players will not be permitted to play without a working camera.

We are currently limiting sign-up to 2 teams per school. Should the field not fill, we will open it up to more than that, though I am confident that we will be able to fill the event. The field cap is 32 teams at the moment. Should there be additional interest and we have enough moderators to make it work, we will expand the field.
