Regarding 'future' - I like this idea, but IMO the current committee members that V. -E addresses should be grandfathered in. I'm assuming that's the intention already.
Just out of curiosity, what was the history and ideology behind attributing a cash prize to the winning school? Is this something necessary? Could the cash prize instead be an earmark toward the winning school's entry fee to a nationals competition of their choice? One would think, from a far, that allocating 'prize money' could delegitimize the state tournament. The only national(s) I know of that award prize money (unless PACE NSC does it, too?) are the disreputable ones.
V-E is exactly as you are describing it Tom.
That is the intent of the prize. Because of how payment for Nationals works, teams have usually already paid at that point, so the check is made out to them but meant to be their entry fee for one of the national tournaments.
